The next Chapter meeting will be held

May 12, 2009 in Georgetown.

EAA Chapter 87 member Phil Shelton has invited the Chapter to tour his Dream Aircraft Tundra project.

Directions: From U.S. rte 1 in Woolwich, go south on route 127 until you come to the Georgetown Village. Turn right just after the Fire Station. In about a hundred yards, take the next right at the church, which is across from a small school. While following this road, stay to the right all the way to Phil’s house. Do not make any turns, and when you come to a fork, just stay right. You will pass a private drive sign. Phil’s house is a yellow house on the right just after the pavement ends. The project is in the red barn behind the house.

The Tundra is an all metal 4 place airplane. It has options for trike, tailwheel and floats. Phil plans to mount his on Montana Amphibs. Engine choices are 180 h.p. to 235 h.p. with a gross weight of 2550 pounds, it will yield about 1100 pounds useful load.

Phil has a website profiling the airplane along with his progress. For a more in-depth description, visit http: //www.worldvoyagers.com/tundra/index.htm

N1909K prepares to travel to KLEW for final assembly.

There are a lot of memorable moments in the construction of an airplane. But one of the most significant "light at the end of the tunnel" events is when your baby moves from the shop to the airport. After approximately four years of construction, on Saturday April 18th, Russ Keith’s RV-9A was transported safely to the Auburn Airport for final assembly. The "feathers" are already there and awaiting the arrival of the mother ship. Russ will spend the next several weeks mounting the wings and empennage components in anticipation of an early spring first flight. The Chapter had the opportunity to visit this project in the fall of 2007.
