Minutes of Meeting Dated November 10, 2009

submitted by Richard DeVito - Secretary

The November meeting was held at the old Bowdoin School.  President Charlie Gabelmann called the meeting to order at 1930.

Jerry Crute made a motion to defer the reading of the October Secretaries report and to accept it as submitted on the chapter web site.  The motion was seconded by Everett Perkins and passed unanimously.

2.  TREASURER’S REPORT

The Treasurer’s report was not available due to the absence of the treasurer.

3.  ELECTION OF OFFICERS

Everett Perkins made a motion to nominate all existing chapter officers.  This was seconded by Gary Bergendoff and passed unanimously.

Everett Perkins made a motion to accept all nominated officers to serve in 2010.  This was seconded by Gary Bergendoff and passed unanimously.

4.  DECEMBER MEETING AND CHRISTMAS PARTY

After some discussion, members decided to hold the December meeting and Christmas party on Saturday December 5.  This will be a pot luck, and we will meet at the old Bowdoin School.

5.  GENERAL

Charlie Gabelmann reported that he and Everett flew 9 Young Eagles from a Bath School Aviation Club.  Charlie thanked Jerry Crute for the use of his 172.

Charlie shared with chapter members a thank you letter from Max Renaud for our sponsoring him for the 2009 ACE Camp.  Max has offered to meet with the chapter if we so desire.

Charlie advised that EAA World of Flight Calendars for 2010 were available, but no interest was noted.

The Merrymeeting clubhouse is undergoing extensive renovation, and the building may no longer be available for chapter meetings.   A few of the chapter officers plan to meet with Mark Bowker Sunday to discuss the matter.

The status of BNAS was discussed with conflicting understandings.  Generally it was concluded that military operations would end in the next few months, but it was unlikely the runways would be open for civilian use, as no operator has been identified.  The only possible aviation link is a maintenance operation by Oxford Aviation, and that is still under consideration by the Base Reuse Committee.

6.  PROJECTS

Gary Bergendoff reported he has received his parachute sails back after repair and they are all in good shape.  The shop actually replaced all damaged panels rather than just patching them.  Everyone in the original supply channel had denied culpability.

                                   DECEMBER MEETING

The December meeting will consist of the annual Chapter Christmas Party, and will be Pot Luck.  Presents will not be exchanged.  All members along with wives and significant others are encouraged to attend.    The party will be held on Saturday December 5 at the old Bowdoin School commencing at 1700 hours.   The school is located on 1201 S. Maine St. (Rte 125).  Entrance to the party is at the rear of the building.

The Chapter will provide plates, glasses, cups, napkins, etc.  Please bring a salad, main dish, or dessert that will serve six.
