The February meeting was held at
Merrymeeting Airport.
President Charlie Gabelmann called the Meeting to
order at 1925 with a quorum of Board Members in
attendance.
1.
SECRETARY’S REPORT
Richard DeVito read the
Secretary’s report for January.
It was noted that references to the FAA under the
proposal for 12,000-pound aircraft should read TSA.
The report was accepted with the noted
corrections.
2.
TREASURER’S REPORT
Tom Muller read the Treasurer’s
report, listing the Chapter bank balance on 1/31/2009 at
$5,753.40. Richard
DeVito made a motion to accept the report as presented.
It was seconded by Leo Leclair, and passed
unanimously.
3.
APRIL MEETING
Charlie Gabelmann reported that
Dave Peppel from the FAA would discuss experimental
aircraft certification with our members at the April
meeting.
4.
SCHOOL PROGRAMS
A school in Oxford approached
Everett Perkins, to conduct an aviation presentation for
kindergarteners and first graders.
Charlie will obtain age related material, and
Everett will conduct the program at some future date.
5.
PROJECTS
Russell Keith reported he is
installing a modified heater system for his RV-9A, and
has submitted aircraft registration paperwork.
Jay Rowe reported his RV-10 is
assembled and rigged.
He is trying to decide if he should fly the
aircraft before painting, or after.
Mark Hayden reported that Tom
Fisher might be ready to fly his Zenair 601 in March.
Leo Leclair reported that he has
completed a second set of floats except for the bottom
skin.
6.
PROGRAM
Leo Leclair explained his purchase
of a 4-pad scale set for the Chapter.
The scales were purchased directly from the
manufacturer – Mittler Brothers – at the advise of
Avery. The
final price was $1,082.03, and Tom found Mittler easy to
work with. Essentially,
they waived the shipment costs, and included a carry
case.
Tom read drafts of the use
agreement and instructions, and members again discussed
the use terms. It
was concluded that we would not charge for the scales
due to liability concerns, and only chapter 87 members
will use the scales.
Leo will e-mail the use agreement draft to board
members for comments, and we will finalize the document
at a future meeting.
MARCH MEETING
The March meeting will be held on
March 10 at Jay Rowe’s garage starting at 1900 hours.
The address is 41 Hammonds Grove in Manchester.
Phone contact is 395-2842.
From I-95, take exit 109 and head
west on highway 202 toward Winthrop.
Hammonds Grove is 3.4 miles west of the exit.
The Augusta Country Club is located at the
beginning of Hammonds Grove, so turn in there.
Jay’s place is the first gray building on the
right past the Country Club, roughly 0.2 miles in.
We will get a look at Jay’s RV-10
and Leo Leclair will demo the new chapter scales. |
